November 2025

31st Oct-1st November: Insects and IFS: Training Session at Panna National Park

On November 2, we concluded a one-and-a-half-day training session on insect ecology for IFS probationers at Panna National Park. Over 100 participants from across India explored the ecological importance of insects, with a special focus on moths.
Though the mothing session yielded limited sightings, the curiosity it sparked was profound. Many participants shared that their perception of insects had shifted from insignificance to essentiality. A monitoring template for tracking insect diversity using light sheets was also introduced for adoption in protected areas.
The collective decision of the probationers to participate in the upcoming National Moth Week made the session especially meaningful, marking a hopeful step toward wider appreciation of insect biodiversity in India’s forests.

October 2025

8th October: Rewilding Urban Parks through Biodiversity Workshop

On October 8, Ladybird Environmental Consulting and WRI India co-hosted a workshop on Rewilding Urban Parks through Biodiversity for 50 members of the BMC Garden Department. The day opened with encouraging remarks from Superintendent of Gardens, Mr. Jeetendra Pardeshi, who also presented a sapling to Dr. V. Shubhalaxmi.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions, a nature trail, and group activities focused on native species, pollinators, soil health, and community-driven green space management. Expert insights came from a panel of botanists, bird specialists, soil experts, and entomologists.
The post-lunch session, led by Ms. Priti Choghale and Dr. V. Shubhalaxmi, guided participants through biodiversity plantation planning and on-site retrofitting exercises. Attendees left equipped and inspired to transform Mumbai’s gardens into thriving, pollinator-friendly urban ecosystems.

September 2025

23rd September: Plantation Drive at Taloja Hill Forest

On September 23, Ladybird Environmental Consulting LLP, in collaboration with Tata Communications, organised a plantation drive at Taloja Hill Forest, Kharghar. With 104 enthusiastic volunteers, the team planted 300 saplings, contributing to ecosystem restoration and long-term habitat creation.
This initiative was a meaningful step toward a greener, more sustainable future, and we extend our gratitude to Tata Communications and every participant whose efforts made the event a success.

26th September: Check Dam Construction Activity at Taloja Hill Forest

On September 26, we conducted a Check Dam Making Activity at Taloja Hill Forest in collaboration with Goodera for Tata Communications. A total of 124 participants worked together to build six check dams across the forest, contributing to water conservation and ecosystem restoration.
The day remained fully sustainable, with on-site segregation of wet and dry waste and all recyclable material sent for processing. The initiative supported key UN SDGs, including Clean Water and Sanitation, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, and Life on Land.
Through collective effort and enthusiasm, the team strengthened both the landscape and the vision of a more sustainable future.

July 2025

29th July: Launch of NatureNext: Urban Habitat Certification

We’re excited to announce the launch of NatureNext, India’s first certification programme dedicated to recognising wildlife-friendly urban campuses. A joint initiative by iNaturewatch Foundation and Ladybird Environmental Consulting LLP, NatureNext celebrates residential societies, factory grounds, eco-farms, and community landscapes that support butterflies, birds, frogs, and native flora.
Designed for Indian ecosystems and aligned with SDG 11, 13, and 15, the two-year certification includes expert guidance and on-site signage. Inspired by global best practices, NatureNext is a meaningful step toward promoting biodiversity in the heart of our cities… and honouring the spaces that are already nurturing nature.

June 2025

13th June: Empowering Educators for a Greener Tomorrow

On June 13, 2025, we held a full-day Teachers’ Training Workshop for 17 educators and trainers from Rotary Club Mumbai at the Anjuman-i-Islam Head Office. Led by Dr. V. Shubhalaxmi and Ms. Priti Choghale, the session introduced participants to The World Is My Canvas environmental handbook… blending discussions, hands-on ideas, and creative classroom approaches.
Teachers explored key environmental themes, discovered activity-based learning methods, and even took part in a lively role-play, “Convince the Principal,” along with a fun poster-based field-trip planning exercise. The day ended with a shared commitment to nurture eco-aware, curious young minds through meaningful outdoor and experiential learning.

March 2025

6th March: Social Entrepreneurship Talk at Patkar College

Our founder, Dr. V. Shubhalaxmi, was invited to speak at Patkar College’s seminar on Research, Conservation, and Entrepreneurship for the Future of Animal Science. Instead of a science session, she led an insightful discussion on Social Entrepreneurship… sharing her twelve-year journey of building environmental ventures and offering practical guidance on starting and sustaining purpose-driven enterprises. The session opened up fresh ways for students to imagine impact, innovation, and the future of green leadership.

January 2025

18th January: Spotlight on Moths: Dr. Shubhalaxmi at the 3rd National Conference

On January 17–18, our founder, Dr. V. Shubhalaxmi, spoke at the 3rd National Conference on Lesser-Known Species of Madhya Pradesh, hosted by SNHC India in Bhopal. Her session, Cracking the Code: Moth Identification and Citizen Science, opened a gateway into the fascinating world of moth diversity… and showed how everyday observers can play a powerful role in documenting it.
Engaging forest officials, researchers, NGOs, and students, she inspired young naturalists to join National Moth Week and begin recording moth species across Bhopal.
The conference became a vibrant space for conversations around the conservation of lesser-known species… the ones often overlooked, data-deficient, threatened, or quietly disappearing. It offered a collective push toward protecting the delicate lives that hold our ecosystems together.

31st January: Designing Cities for Life: A Talk on Urban Biodiversity

On January 31, Dr. V. Shubhalaxmi addressed landscape architecture students at IES College, Bandra, as part of their Nature in City series. Her session on Backyard Ecology highlighted Mumbai’s overlooked urban biodiversity and the need for multi-layered, ecologically mindful landscape design. She showed how small, thoughtful interventions… from balcony butterfly gardens to wildlife-friendly planting… can turn city spaces into meaningful green sanctuaries. The invitation, inspired by her earlier talks, reflected the growing interest in building cities where nature truly belongs.
