The Butterfly Patrol initiative, led by Publicis Groupe India through its CSR programme and implemented by iNaturewatch Foundation in collaboration with Navi Mumbai Police, transforms 10 police stations in Navi Mumbai into vibrant green sanctuaries. By planting over 300 butterfly-friendly plants at each site, the project enhances biodiversity, improves air quality, and fosters community connections, aiming for a 15% increase in butterfly species diversity and a 20-30% reduction in pollution. Through educational outreach and awareness programs, it promotes environmental well-being while reducing stress for police personnel. This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goals, creating greener, healthier spaces for both people and nature.
Project Location: Navi Mumbai
Project Duration: November 2024 - March 2025
Client: Publicis Groupe India
We have carefully selected 10 Police Stations in Navi Mumbai located in areas with limited green spaces to maximize the impact of this initiative.
By planting over 300 butterfly-friendly plants at each site, we’re not only enhancing the natural beauty of these spaces but also improving air quality, reducing stress, and fostering a stronger connection between police officers and their communities.
The Butterfly Patrol improves biodiversity, reduces pollution, enhances green cover, and mitigates urban heat while promoting police health, positive policing, and community engagement. It aligns with SDGs 3, 11, 13, 15, and 17 for a sustainable future.
We are excited to announce the completion of the first Butterfly Garden at the CP Office, CBD Belapur. The project began on December 11, 2024, with Mr. Sanjay Patil, DCP of Navi Mumbai, planting the first Curry leaf sapling, a host plant for the Common Mormon butterfly. The garden, completed on December 12, 2024, features 393 saplings from 34 plant species, including nectar and larval host plants, chosen to create a thriving butterfly habitat. A heartfelt thank you to all the supporters and volunteers who made this milestone possible!
