Eco-days in March: 20: World Sparrow Day, 21: World Forestry Day, 22 World Water Day
These are full/half day environmental employee engagement wherein we conduct range of activities such as deweeding, tree plantation, seed collection, making sapling bags and so on. We work with local site partners working in the field of ecology in major cities to provide these opportunities.
We identify wilderness sites where nature trails could be developed for nature education purpose. This involves, clearing of pathways, placing stones, painting them and planting a hedgeline. This is could be full/day event depending on location.
These activities are developed on the theme of -Swatch Bharat Mission. We identify lakes and wilderness sites which could be cleaned up with help of volunteers. The Lake Clean-up activity is only available in Chennai, Pune and Kolkatta.
This is a half day programme which involves birdwatching trail where participants collect grasses, twigs and leaves as nesting material for birds. Thereafter they build nest boxes and nesting material containers out of waste bottles and cans. These are then installed at the site where local birds could use them.
This is a half day indoor activity wherein we provide orientation as well as hands on training to participants on development of a kitchen garden. They also prepare planters out of waste bottles. The activity is held in groups, where each group prepares a sample pot. The programme ends with a quiz and the winners get vegetable seed packets.
This activity is purely based on theme of water conservation. We identify sites which could benefit from development of checkdams or contour bunding. Through this method, water is held in a location for longer duration thus aiding ground water table recharge. This is a laborious work and offered in Pune exclusively. It is usually conducted before monsoon i.e.during summer.
